The Smarter Earth Institute holds as its primary goal, to identify, investigate, support, develop, popularize and promote concepts, projects and products: bettering the environment and the well being of self-aware entities (including humans); improving the relationships between self-aware beings; minimizing risks, obstacles, harms and threats to self-aware entities; developing self-awareness and intelligence. Part of this objective is satisfied by exploring and documenting opportunities for the virtualization of society including the arts. As part of this project, The Smarter Earth Institute hopes to provide an unparalleled opportunity to a number of artists to obtain a portion of a Second Life sim. Each portion will comprise approximately 1/5 of a sim, with a commensurate number of prims, after common areas have been landscaped. Each portion will cost $US 180, payable in advance for six months occupation, or about $30/month per portion. This is less than half of normal commercial rental rates. The sim will be placed next to SmarterEarth and SmarterSpace and all three will be similarly terraformed and landscaped. The opportunity will begin as soon as all 5 portions have been subscribed to. These portions are not transferable and are subject to some constraints e.g. respecting the essentially non-profit nature of the sim, not being used for clubs or stores, preserving public access and not building skyboxes except by mutual consent at agreed altitudes so as not to interfere with neighbouring sims. Interested parties are invited to contact Hermit Barber in world.

To summarize. this new sim will work out to an effective rate of about $L2000/week or $ US 30/month (but payable in advance as a single payment of $US 180) for over 2000 prims (as well as a shared sandbox with 2000 prims for temporary use), and a sim sized sky area all the time, as well as a chance to use the full sim as an exhibition area for over a month (or for longer if you share with other artists).

Klark Harvy has apparently not yet made up his mind. If anyone else can find an alternate it would be good. We need a meeting with everyone in so far. I can manage whatever time is needed. Ranger can be here any day except Thursday. He leads SLT by 17 hours and is normally awake from 15:00 SLT until 07h00 SLT (his midnight). So I suggest that afternoon/evening SLT might be best. Would this afternoon 2010-09-27 16h00 SLT suit everyone? If so see you here at Think Tank.
