More Tiger Direct Lameness- Bad UIs and worse Captchas
Having become quite well known as a company that ships the wrong goods, tells customers that they are wrong or stupid, and repeatedly emails special offers without bothering to have sufficient stock on hand (and not bothering to respond to complaints about this), Tiger Direct now appears to have sunk to a new low. Competitions with seemingly unreadable Captchas and no auditory alternatives. Are they doing this to cut down spam, because captchas have had to become less and less human friendly as spammers have become smarter about decoding algorithms and techniques, or because, by doing this, TigerDirect can collect information without having to enter people in their competitions - while accidently or deliberately barring the vision challenged from entering.
When I'm wearing corrective aids, I'm not vision challenged, neither is anyone else in my family - and we had our eyesight evaluated last week. None of us see anything in the following that could remotely be called "text" even straining our eyes and our imaginations on two different computers and 3 different screens. I even reached the point of wasting half-an-hour trying various filters and colour-tools in the Gimp. All to no avail. How about you? Have you experienced anything like this? Can you see any text in this Captcha? Please answer in the comments if you think we're wrong.

After writing the above, I gave up what I had typed and refreshed the screen manually, as there was no button to ask for a new one without losing what I had typed already (which is a UI fail)- upon which, surprise, surprise, I received a useable Captcha.

So this seems to be the approach to take for now. I did send them a message about it, but who knows if they will even look here or reply to this message.
