HowJSay

I wasn't suggesting you do all the work :-) Simply suggesting a small change to the site url handling when invoked in "word group mode". For example, if howjsay were invoked with, e.g. "http://www.howjsay.com/index.php?word=alpha-http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alpha;beta-http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Beta;gamma-http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gamma;delta-http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Delta;epsilon-http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Epsilon;zeta-http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zeta;eta-http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eta;theta-http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Theta;iota-http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Iota;kappa-http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kappa;lambda-http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lamda;mu-http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mu&&group=TRUE&image=http://www.ibiblio.org/koine/greek/lessons/drawgreek.gif&submit=Submit", URL encoded of course, then you could use the "group=TRUE" to select "word group" mode, the image to show something appropriate next to the word list when nothing is selected, and scrolling over the words, to invoke the associated URLs in an iframe. The word tags would be displayed as they are at the moment with the associated URLs removed. This, with a small instructable, might lead to a lot more use of the site as a learning too, as I have been doing. Kind Regards Emilie

I think I'm still not getting across. Please bear with me while I try again. If you had a "mode" on your site, possibly indicated by a flag in the url (as in my previous suggested URL format, with "group=TRUE") where somebody else (not necessarily you or me, but anyone) could associate an image (any image by URL, scaled to a suitable % of screen width) with a word-list possibly by adding an image URL to the word list url (as in my previous suggestion, "image=..."), and optionally associate word-urls with the words (perhaps using a mechanism such as the example URL I gave, where I suggested hyphen appended URL encoded links to be iframed when the word is highlighted (and pronounced) ) that would allow anyone (i.e. not necessarily you or me) to create highly interactive word lists via the howjsay site. So the ONLY change on your side would be the addition of a small amount of URL decomposition and image/iframe handling (and possibly writing up a small guide to use this facility with a few examples). Then it would be up to others (I'm game for some) to build on your work by creating word-sets and associated material. In other words, there would be no burden on you to create the links or research the material, and no change in the existing use of the site (which is wonderful). This is simply a suggested extension allowing others (me!) to embed your sites' pronunciation facilities in more focussed teaching pages, while still giving you the full benefit of the traffic and click-through revenues. Does that make sense now?
