Emilie's Choice - Shopping in Second Life
Emilie's Choice - The best of SL (Skins, Shapes, Clothing and Attachments)
Given the huge number of superb creators in Second LifeTM (I'd call it SL, only that stands for "So Lame" or even "Sore Losers" despite Linden Lab's claim of a trademark on the term), there is no excuse (except perhaps poverty for a little while), not to look fantastic. Even poverty is addressable - by bringing some funds in world - and it is amazing how cost effective things are in Second Life. It is important to realize that one can derive the same amount of pleasure shopping in Second Life as one can in the physical world - but on a fraction of the money.
I adore style, and am very partial to the palette of the impressionist, pointillist and cubists and continental styles in the century between about 1870 to 1970 when styles, which had been slow to change in all previous history, changed dramatically and exitingly because of industrialization and advances in fabrics and dyes. SL allows me to explore these fashions without fear of ridicule. Here are the creators whose works I buy and wear on a regular basis.
!!! Special Note !!!
If you arrived here by touching an "Emilie's Choice" giver in world, you now have a folder named "*~~~ Emilie's Choice ~~~*" in your inventory. In that folder is a giver which you can rez in-world, a HUD which you can wear to navigate quickly to the in world stores refered to below, and a Landmark to SmarterSpace ( http://slurl.com/secondlife/SmarterSpace/128/128/22 ) where you can find an inworld giver in case you happened across this link from the web. Not only does the HUD allow fast navigation, it also provides the ability to perform group shopping. To do this, the leader simply enters /55 tour and all other Emilie's Choice HUD users in 100m will be invited to join the "tour" and if they do, their HUDS will be synchronised to allow simultaneous TPing between sims.

Shapes
While skins and shapes interact to a very great extent, it is worth trying to stick with a shape and fine tuning it, as with the AO, it is what is most recognizable about you. The shape I wear is my own, assisted and tuned by Andra Anatine. She charges a fixed rate to make a shape that the wearer is happy with, and will tune it to match skins as you buy them. Don't mess around, she is worth every penny she charges and more.

AO
A great deal of one's personality in SL is courtesy of your Animation Overrider or AO, so it is worth getting a good one and sticking with it. My most used AOs are a "girly" one from Akeyo supplemented by individual animations from Sweet Lovely Cute, together with more "business like" AOs from Vista. On the subject of Vista, it is very tricky getting hold of Vista Barnes, and her English is far from good, but the AOs are really first rate. Before that I regularly wore a LostDog Designs AO which has the virtues of being of reasonable cost and fully animated. All the AO suppliers have male and female systems available. All the AO suppliers listed here offer both male and female AOs.

And if you want to move around SL with practiced ease, then I recommend the one tool I don't leave home without, the emDash from Cheshyr Pontchartrain. Get it from me and sponsor SmarterEarth a bit. Vendor at SmarterSpace

Translator
SL has people from many countries speaking many languages. Be helpful, wear a translator. The best translator in SL is free. It is called Simbolic and comes from:

Get it. Wear it. Use it. Tell people who don't allow scripts on their parcels that they are placing people who rely on translators at a disadvantage.
Avoid
Given the wonderful service most creators in SL provide, the fact that I mention a few I recommend not dealing with might speak volumes. Be glad the list isn't longer. Avoid:
Santana Lumiere - Nevermore
Caine Lewinter - Novocaine
